1. Overview
HiverGo ("we", "us", "our") operates the HiverGo mobile application available on Google Play. HiverGo is an all-in-one platform for teams, creators, and businesses across Africa to connect, collaborate, and transact securely — bringing social connection, commerce, and coordination into one clean experience built around Hives: smart spaces for organizing people, content, and opportunity.
This Privacy Policy applies to all users of the HiverGo app. It explains what personal information we collect, why we collect it, how it is stored, how long we keep it, and the choices you have over your own data. By using HiverGo, you agree to the practices described here.
HiverGo does not collect, process, or store any health or medical data and has no health features of any kind.
2. Data We Collect
Account and profile data
- Your name, username, email address, and profile photo
- Your account password, stored in secure encrypted form — never readable as plain text
- Your phone number, used for account verification and to initiate mobile money sessions
- Your profile biography, links, and any other information you choose to make visible
Content and activity data
- Posts, messages, comments, and media you create or upload within the app
- Your Hive memberships, team affiliations, and participation in communities
- Marketplace listings, purchases, and your transaction history
- Events you create or respond to; project tasks and work streams you interact with
- Paypool contributions and collective funding activity
- Books and articles you access through the in-app Reader
Payment and wallet data
- Transaction records, your HiverPay wallet balance, and payment activity history
- Token purchase history and your in-app token usage
- Your actual card or mobile money credentials are handled entirely by our certified payment partners and are never stored on HiverGo's own servers
Device and technical data
- Your device type, operating system version, and the version of HiverGo you are running
- A device-level token used to deliver push notifications to your specific device
- Your IP address and general network connectivity information
- Crash reports and diagnostic performance data used to identify and fix bugs
Location data
- Your approximate or precise location is only ever requested when you actively use a location-based feature
- Location is never collected silently in the background — it is only accessed when a relevant feature is in use
- Your precise location is not persistently stored on our servers
Photos and media
- Photos and images you explicitly select and upload for your profile, posts, marketplace listings, or messages
- We access only the specific files you choose to share — we do not scan or browse your full media library
3. App Permissions
When you install and use HiverGo, your device may ask you to grant the following permissions:
HiverGo does not request or hold permission to read, receive, or intercept your SMS messages, and does not access your phone contacts. Your private messages and contact list remain entirely your own.
The current public release of HiverGo does not include microphone access or screen recording capabilities. We do not record your voice, ambient audio, or screen activity under any circumstances.
4. How We Use Your Data
- Delivering the service: To operate your account, enable messaging, process payments, run the marketplace, and power every core feature of HiverGo.
- Personalization: To tailor your feed, discovery results, Spotlight recommendations, and content suggestions based on your activity and preferences.
- Keeping you informed: To send push notifications and in-app alerts about new messages, transactions, events, and important account activity.
- Security and fraud prevention: To detect suspicious behaviour, prevent unauthorized access to your wallet and account, and protect all financial transactions.
- Legal compliance: To meet our obligations under applicable laws, respond to lawful government requests, and enforce our Terms of Service.
- Making HiverGo better: To analyze aggregated, anonymized usage patterns, fix bugs, and improve the app experience over time. We do not sell your personal data — ever.
6. Data Retention & Deletion
We keep your data for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide our services:

How to delete your account and data
- 1 Tap your profile photo or blank avatar icon in the bottom-right corner.
- 2 Scroll down to the Delete Account section and tap to expand it.
- 3 Follow the on-screen confirmation steps to confirm your decision.
- 4 Your account is deactivated immediately and fully deleted within 90 days, along with all associated personal data.
Send an email to help@hivergo.com with the subject line "Account Deletion Request" including your registered email address. We will process your request within 30 days.
7. Security
- All data passing between your device and our servers is encrypted in transit.
- Your password is stored using secure, one-way encryption — never stored or transmitted in readable form.
- Your payment credentials are processed entirely by our certified payment partners and are never stored on HiverGo's infrastructure.
- Internal access to user data is strictly restricted to authorized team members on a need-to-know basis, with access logging and controls in place.
- We use Google Firebase for secure, token-based authentication and session management.
If you discover a security vulnerability in HiverGo, please report it responsibly to help@hivergo.com.
8. Your Rights
Depending on your location, you may have the following rights over your personal data. Contact us at help@hivergo.com to exercise any of them — we aim to respond within 30 days.
9. Child Safety & CSAE Policy
HiverGo's absolute prohibition on child sexual abuse and exploitation (CSAE)
HiverGo has a strict, unconditional zero-tolerance policy toward child sexual abuse and exploitation (CSAE) in all its forms. HiverGo explicitly prohibits the creation, uploading, downloading, sharing, distribution, solicitation, or facilitation of any content that sexually exploits or endangers a minor. This prohibition applies to every feature of the HiverGo platform without exception — including Hives, group chats, private messages, the marketplace, media uploads, events, and all community tools.
- Any account found to be producing, distributing, or engaging with child sexual abuse material (CSAM) will be immediately and permanently removed from HiverGo.
- All confirmed or credibly suspected CSAM will be reported without delay to relevant law enforcement authorities and to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC) CyberTipline as required by applicable law.
- HiverGo complies with all applicable child safety laws and regulations in every country where the app is available.
- HiverGo cooperates fully and proactively with any law enforcement investigation related to child safety or exploitation.
Age eligibility
HiverGo does not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13 without verified parental or guardian consent. If we become aware that a child under 13 has created an independent account, we will suspend and permanently delete that account and its associated data without delay.
In-app reporting
- Tap the three-dot menu on any post, message, profile, or piece of content
- Select Report and choose "Child safety concern"
- All child safety reports are treated as the highest priority by our trust and safety team — target first response within 24 hours
How we handle CSAM reports
- Reported content is reviewed immediately. Anything confirmed as CSAM is removed from the platform without delay.
- The responsible account is permanently banned and evidence submitted to the NCMEC CyberTipline and applicable law enforcement agencies.
- Evidence is preserved in accordance with legal requirements to support any investigation that follows.
10. Third-Party Services
HiverGo works with a small number of trusted third-party services to deliver core functionality. Each operates under its own privacy policy, which we encourage you to review.

Your financial credentials are processed directly by these providers and are never stored on HiverGo's servers.
11. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our features, practices, or legal obligations. When we make material changes, we will:
- Update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page
- Send you an in-app notification describing what has changed
- For significant changes, send an email notification to the address associated with your account
Your continued use of HiverGo after the effective date of any updated policy constitutes your acceptance of the changes. You may delete your account at any time using either method described in Section 6.
